Mycotoxins

Mycotoxins are toxic compounds produced by certain species of mold. These toxins can remain present even after visible mold has been removed or is no longer actively growing, and may pose health risks particularly for individuals with weakened immune systems. Laboratory testing screens for common cannabis-related mycotoxins including aflatoxins and ochratoxin A. Because mycotoxins are not eliminated by removing visible mold, testing of the finished product is essential to verify safety. Testing helps ensure that products entering the market meet regulatory safety standards and protect consumer health.
